Music Technology

Music Technology is an intensive four year course of study designed to prepare students for a career in Music Technology and Multimedia related industries. Courses of instruction begin at an introductory level and accelerate rapidly to provide the student with knowledge and practical skills in all aspects of audio and video recording in both analog and digital formats. Included in Music Technology is the use of microphones, tape recorders, mixing consoles, monitoring systems, acoustics, management and music production. Software related to the Multimedia industry such as Reaper, Nuendo, Sibelius, Final Cut Pro, and Pro Tools are used.

Music Technology has been designed in close liaison with the needs of the music and video recording industry and emphasizes concentrated practical training. Utilizing the school’s own fully equipped professional audio and video editing room, the student is able to obtain the practical experience as well as the theoretical training that he/she will require in order to succeed in Music Technology related industries.

Though Music Technology stresses the technical aspects of the industry, the student is at all times reminded that he/she deals with a creative industry and is encouraged to engage in performance, composition and songwriting at the same time.

The Music Technology Program consists of twelve credits spread over four years.
